Important Update…

We have heard from the company and they have proposed changes to their package. We are finalizing this now and will get it out to the membership as soon as possible.

VOTE Wednesday 2/26

We will have a meeting and vote on Wednesday 2/26/2014 at the Monroe Woodbury Middle School at 5:30. We are setting up a backup in case the school is closed due to snow. Check this site for updates.  During this meeting we will discuss all the changes and take all of your questions.  You must be present to vote.  Package SHOULD be out by tomorrow.

Update 2/21/2014

We want to thank all the members for their support during our time in negotiations.  This Local Union is strong and your continued  support aids us in our endeavors. We would also like to thank all of the other locals who have reached out and offered their support as well.  It means a great deal to us.   The preparation for the package to hand out to the membership is still in progress.  We will have a meeting and vote on Wednesday 2/26/2014 at the Monroe Woodbury Middle School at 5:30.  During this meeting we will discuss all the changes and take all of your questions.  You must be present to vote. 

Bargaining Update 2/19

Every penny that this company collects is generated on the backs of the employees who face our customers every day.

They should think about these employees.  About their families.  About the sacrifices and commitment to this company’s service they have all made for years.  And where, in spite of all of that, this company clearly wants to take from them.

It’s easy to say “What does the Union say?”  “What will the Union do?”  It is never clearer than at times like this.  You are the Union.  You are the voice. Your word, and only your word has weight here and now.

You can watch things on a national level, on a state level, on  a local level and say “I am not heard!” 

You will be heard here. 

You will be heard now.

As of today the company presented their final package to us with very minimal movement on the company side.  We currently have an extension til March 14th.  Within that time we will be setting up a ratification vote on their package.  As to where this package stands today,

Your bargaining committee recommends a NO vote.

Bargaining update 2/18

With time running short on our current extension, the union and the company are still far apart. We believe we have been negotiating in good faith with the company. The big issues such as medical, wages and disability are still on the table. The federal mediator was there today and again will be there tomorrow. We are determined to bring back a fair agreement for the members to vote on.  We don’t believe with what we seen so far it is fair to the members and their families. Remember–United we Bargain, Divided we Beg.  Thank you to all the members for the continued support!

Update 2/11

Today we met with the mediator and the company.  No progress was made.  We have an extension til next Friday.

Bargaining 2/6/2014

No progress has been made this week.  We have reached out to a federal mediator to help.  We are not scheduled to meet again til next week.  The contract has been extended by another week.  Big issues currently on the table are medical, retiree benefits,  STD/LTD and wages.  We are working hard to bring back a fair package for you to vote on.  We thank everyone for their support.

Due to weather we met briefly with the company.  Big issues of medical and wages are the main topics.  We expect to have a long day tomorrow of negotiations.
